TAKING ON BOARD FEEDBACK

YOU SAID WE DID

BUILDING SCALE AND HEIGHT

Some residents had minor concerns in relation to the scale and height of the proposed building.

In response, the following changes have been made to the scheme:

  • The appearance of the front elevation facing Greycoat Place has been updated to include new ornate horizontal brickwork to separate alternate floors. This will reduce the amount of large format glazing and therefore reduce the visual scale of the building.
  • At level 4, additional ornate horizontal brickwork has been added under the projecting cornice and parapet to provide a greater visual weight to the elevation;

The final façade submitted as part of this application has responded to the feedback received on height and scale.

DESIGN AND APPERANCE

Whilst many residents expressed positive feedback regarding the overall design and appearance of the proposals, some were concerned that the current building offers greater variety.

Whilst many residents expressed positive feedback regarding the overall design and appearance of the proposals, some were concerned that the current building offers greater variety.

In response to this feedback, we have made the following changes to the scheme:

  • Greater detail has been added in the brickwork and glazing of the building.
  • The materials of the building has been simplified to provide a lighter and more subservient appearance to the top of the building.
  • The proposed facing brick of the replacement principal elevation has been lightened.

NOISE POLLUTION

Residents had raised concerns that the possibility of a gym and a new restaurant would generate noise which would disturb neighbours, particularly late in the evening.

GMG understands that neighbouring residential properties will have concerns about this. To ensure there is no impact on those who live close by, GMG will include shutters in the design for the gym, restaurant and bike storage windows in order to mitigate any noise pollution and shield neighbouring properties.

GMG will also include details in the tenant handbook to clarify that the Artillery Mansions roadway to the east elevation is private land and there should be no access for taxi pick-up or deliveries.

In addition, the current proposals have been designed to ensure that noise pollution is mitigated and this will be secured by a planning condition.
